2014 MLB Predictions: Tanaka, Jeter, Trout & Harper

The Yankees haven't missed the postseason two years in a row since the Buck Showalter era. This year, they've got stiff competition yet again in the AL East and I've gotta say, it doesn't look too good for the Bronx Bombers.

One thing's for sure: the Yankees' farm system isn't going to dazzle this year. That means it will be up to this year's 25-man roster to bring the Yankees back to the postseason. As you'll see below, I believe these 25 can do it. But I've chosen my words carefully, and health – as it always is with the Yankees – will be the X-factor. These 25 can do it.

Sure, there are plenty of questions about this year's team, starting with Masahiro Tanaka. And what about CC Sabathia's velocity? Mark Teixeira's wrist? Derek Jeter's ankle? Thinking about all of that makes your nervous, and let's not forget about David Robertson's attempt to fill in for the great Mariano Rivera. Well, my sixth annual preseason predictions are below!

Yes, I see how you are more Red than you are Blue. And not just last year, I clicked away and noticed that the only year you had it right, was in 09, as the Yankees did indeed win. What is it everyone picking the A's this year? SI has them going as well. Your picks have been awful. I mean last year you had the Blue Jays winning the AL East. How did that work out for you? The mighty Angels to win it all, how off were you there? (and the year before that, for that matter). Once again, I think that you are way off. pretty funny

Thanks for checking out my picks, Angel. Yes, last year's picks were tough, but I wasn't the only one who didn't see the Red Sox coming or the Blue Jays and Angels struggling. Who do you like winning the AL East and the World Series this year?

in my heart, i think that this can be just like 2009. The Yankees made moves and it led to championship. I have followed the preseason well, and the starting pitchers look really good. I really think that Tanaka can make a run at ROY and that Nova will be solid and Pineda will surprise. I TRULY think you can update your picks and add comeback player of the year to the list and just hand it right on over to C.C.Sabathia. he has looked ace like and i think they'll all due well. The offense has got to be better with the 3 bats added, regardless of Jeter's age and Tex's wrist. I just wish all the experts would give this team credit. So as much as I don't wish to be a homer, I am going to go all in with the Yankees and doing it over the Dodgers.
I like the guys we have and they are healthy for the most part. That’s the key for the most part but you have to do the job on the field. It’s a long season and it takes a while before you get a great feel for a team but I am pretty optimistic.
