That's right. Jesus Montero, who is also 22 and made an impact on the Yankees last September and earned a spot on the playoff roster, was traded to the Mariners for Michael Pineda, according to Jon Heyman. Heyman adds that more players are involved and the Yankees initially inquired about Felix Hernandez but were denied.
UPDATE: The Yankees also gave up Hector Noeisi and the Mariners gave up Jose Campos.

Pineda is a very promising pitcher. The righthander throws consistently in the mid-90s and had a 3.74 ERA in 171 innings last year, his rookie season. He won nine games (which is apparently very good in Seattle) and lost 10. He was an All-Star and finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting.
Pineda must have made quite an impression on Brian Cashman on May 27, when he faced the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. He threw five innings, allowed three earned runs, three hits, walked five and struck out five.

I like this trade. As promising as Montero was he wasn't a good defensive catcher. Yankees have no room for him as a DH.
Uncle T
The trade stinks. Montero is a Yankee. Pineda isn't. If you don't care about this sentimentality, Montero is a future star; Pineda can throw is arm out with one pitch. And what's so good about a 3.74 ERA? Awful trade. If they want to trade someone, trade A-Rod and eat his salary
Denied? lol. How are you going to deny the Yankees? Can you imagine Pineda and King Felix both in Yankees uniforms? Even with this aging offense, yikes. http://www.fromthisseat.com.
Given the state of the other AL East ball clubs, I still say the Yankees are in great shape.
