Derek Jeter doesn’t always get the Yankees on cable at his home in Tampa

I’ve successfully blocked out yesterday’s 6-3 loss with this stunning news about Derek Jeter culled from Tyler Kepner’s column.

Jeter deflected a few tough questions by saying he could not always watch the Yankees play on his cable system at home in Tampa, Fla.

A man as rich as Jeter can’t watch his own team from his castle in Tampa, but me, a college journalist living in the heart of Red Sox Nation, watches the Yankees nightly without any trouble. Quite the conundrum, isn’t it?

And yes, despite his .256 batting average, Jeter earned a trip to Arizona for his 12th All-Star Game selection. He also has the lowest on-base percentage on the team (with more than 150 at-bats) and is its leadoff hitter.

Much to the chagrin of the Dos Equis man, Derek Jeter might just be The Most Interesting Man in the World.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, it's usually caused by a Yankee pitcher not getting the job done.

I just hope Jeter will never again have to wear those star-spangled Trenton Thunder uniforms. If George had seen them, he would have flipped his lid. (Yes, I mean Steinbrenner, not Costanza.)

Ha, so true. I wouldn't mine Castanza in office
