A.J. Burnett saw a four-run lead disappear in the sixth inning and the Rays bullpen nailed down the win with four spotless innings.
Scoreboard Says:
Rays 6, Yankees 5
Win: David Price
Loss: A.J. Burnett
Save: Kyle Farnsworth
Grandy Goes Yard:
Curtis Granderson is still in the zone. With a three-run homer in the fifth, Granderson now has as many homers against lefties as he does against righties. That homer was also just the second homer Price has allowed to a lefty in his career and first since July 23, 2009.
Burnett Winless in May:
Burnett was coming off two quality starts with an 0-1 record in May before tonight. I thought for sure in the sixth he would collect his fifth win of the year, but the hits just kept coming for the Rays and he never recorded the final out of the inning.
Game Ball:
Rays reliever Joel Peralta tossed pitched a perfect seventh and eighth to bridge the gap to Farnsworth.

On my first day working for The Boston Globe, I co-wrote a story on Drew Bledsoe’s Patriots Hall of Fame induction. Check it out here, or hopefully in tomorrow’s print edition!
