Poll Results: Unhittable Joba to return in 2011

poll results65 I’m not really sure why, but voters seem to think the dominant ‘07 Joba Chamberlain will return this season. My gut says this could be a crucial season for Joba’s future. Will he even finish the year with the Yankees? Can he prove to another team that he’s worthy of starting ballgames? These are questions Yankees bloggers like myself ask themselves every day.

Quickly, I’d have to say no, he won’t finish the year with the Yankees and yes, he will start for another team. Now that the Yankees have a crowded bullpen, I think Joba is going to want out and do what he can to prove his value before the trade deadline at the end of July.

New poll: When will Mo’s age catch up with him?

You could very well be right, that as Joba gets back to his older dominance, his trade value goes up and could be shipped out before the trade deadline....but I see that as a BIG mistake, respectfully.

Joba could be more valuable to the Yankees if another team sees a lot of potential in him and overspends to get him. But if you think he can be successful in the Yankees' rotation longterm, it would be wise for the Yankees to keep him.
I would be ecstatic to see 2007 Joba back this year, but I'm not counting on it.

If he does get traded, where do you think he ends up?

I'm not really sure what teams find Joba attractive. As I said to Carlos above, I'm sure one team will like him a lot - probably too much - and will want to overspend to acquire him. If that happens, I think the Yankees should do away with him if they can get a legitimate back-of-the-rotation kind of starter.
