Jays pounce on Burnett, take opener 8-6

Nick Swisher did everything in his power — literally — to make up for A.J. Burnett’s awful start, but it was too little, too late for the Yankees, as the Blue Jays hung on for an 8-6 win.

Best of All: Swisher jacked two homers and raised his batting average over .300 for the year. Mark Teixeira kept pace with Swisher’s 22 homers for the year by adding one himself.

Worst of All: Alex Rodriguez did not; he’s still stuck on 599.

Lance Berkman drove in his first run as a Yankee, but then made a major base running blunder by getting caught in a pickle between third and home.

Coming Up: The Yankees look to tie the series Tuesday night with Dustin Moseley toeing the rubber.
