A Yankee will participate in tonight’s Home Run Derby for the first time since the Giambino did it back in 2003. Of all the Yankees’ home run hitters, Nick Swisher would probably be the last one you’d pick to participate in a home run contest. But he was the man chosen (after Robinson Cano was dragged out of the competition).
Swish said there’s no added pressure competing in the Derby. I, on the other hand, predict he will whiff on the first pitch. But then proceed to win the thing while breaking Josh Hamilton’s record, of course.
Sarcasm aside, I just want him to put on a show for the viewers. The last few Derbys have really dragged on and it’s lacked an entertainer like Swish. He needs to come up big for the Yankees and for the MLB tonight.
Here’s the lineup:
- Miguel Cabrera
- Corey Hart
- Matt Holliday
- David Ortiz
- Hanley Ramirez
- Nick Swisher
- Chris Young
- Vernon Wells
So who are you picking to win? More importantly, who do you want to win?
