Phil Hughes tossed seven dominant innings against the Mariners and Mark Teixeira slugged a homer from both sides of the plate to lead the Yankees to a 6-1 win.
Best of All: The start from Hughes was the fifth quality start in a row from the Yankees’ staff. Only A.J. Burnett has allowed more than one run (two) over seven-plus innings in this last cycle.
Teixeira’s got 17 homers, you know. He’s driven in 59, while Alex Rodriguez has 70 and Robinson Cano has 57.
Worst of All: Another tough day for Derek Jeter: 0-for-5 down to .273.
Coming Up: The third game of the series is tonight at 10 p.m. in 3-D! (You have to have a 3-D TV and 3-D goggles to watch in 3-D.)
