The Yankees swept the Orioles with a 6-3 win Thursday despite Mariano Rivera allowing the tying run to the plate three times in the ninth.
Best of all: CC Sabathia earned his first win in exactly a month, striking out seven over seven innings for his fifth win. Two of his the three hits allowed were homers from Adam Jones and Luke Scott, which accounted for all three earned runs.
Worst of all: Francisco Cervelli. He’s hitless in his last 15 plate appearances. Jorge Posada has returned, but only as a DH, keeping Cervelli behind the plate full-time.
Robinson Cano. Only one hit today (off the wall for an RBI double in the first). He extended his hit streak to 17 games, but his multi-hit streak ended at eight.
Coming up: The Yankees start a six-game road trip Friday, starting with a weekend set in Toronto and then three more in Baltimore after an off-day Monday.
