Javier Vazquez allowed two home runs but pitched brilliantly over seven innings in the Yankees’ 9-3 thrashing of the Astros to push him above .500 at 6-5.
Best of all: Derek Jeter had a pair of homers for the first time since 2006 and Jorge Posada broke out of his slump with a grand slam to break the game open in the third.
Worst of all: Alex Rodriguez missed his second straight game and a source says team officials were ‘furious’ with A-Rod for hiding the injury.
Coming up: The Yankees will look for the sweep on Sunday with Phil Hughes on the hill.
