Robinson Cano continued his torrid pace against the Orioles tonight, slapping three hits including a two-run bomb in the seventh to put the game out of reach in an eventual 9-1 victory for the Yankees.
Best of all: Cano is filthy. And so is Phil Hughes. Hughes struck out seven in seven strong to earn his seventh win of the year and Cano extended his hit streak to 16 games and his multi-hit streak to eight.
Curtis Granderson and Nick Swisher had three hits apiece and combined for five RBIs. Jorge Posada had a hit, a run and a walk in his return from the DL.
Worst of all: Mark Teixeira didn’t get the invite to the 15-hit party. He posted a fat 0-for-5 with five left on base.
Coming up: Yankees have a chance for a sweep Thursday afternoon.
