Hairston's line of .237/.352/.382 for the Yankees in 93 plate appearances last year is respectable for a utility player. His versatility on defense increases his value exponentially, as he is capable of playing every position except pitcher and catcher. He also has enough speed to pinch run, but not quite enough to be a stolen base threat. He's also a great veteran presence in the dugout and clubhouse.
I really hope he is one of the guys the Yankees pick up for their bench. He won't be the power option, but he does just about everything else. I expect a deal to be completed soon, as it probably won't be a very complex contract.
