Early reports are saying Randy “Big Unit” Johnson is planning on retiring after 22 seasons.
The 6-foot-10 lefty is a sure Hall of Famer with a 303-166 record, a 3.29 career ERA and 4,875 strikeouts. He never won a World Series, but five Cy Young Awards and 10 All-Star selections make him a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
Unfortunately, his incident with a New York media cameraman (right) will be one of the things he is remembered for. But he will also be known as one of the most intimidating pitchers of all time.
It goes to show what kind of guy he is when he was probably just one season away from becoming the second pitcher with 5,000 strikeouts.
