Mets GM Omar Minaya has requested the results of a physical for Hideki Matsui, according to a tweet from NPBtracker (h/t Chad Jennings).
I’m guessing Minaya’s instincts are telling him Matsui might be able to play the outfield again. I have no clue where he’s getting these instincts, but the Mets seem to have some nice luck with avoiding injuries (cough cough).
But let’s say he can play left field. He would provide a consistent bat to the team and could really help them rebound in 2010.
Interestingly, Jon Heyman is tweeting the Mets are not going after Matsui.
if #mets asked for matsui's medicals, maybe they just want to learn something about medicine. they are NOT going for #matsui
Conflicting reports, anyone?

So, Mets would earn more than $15 million, which Yanks got this year.
A survey by a Japanese sports magazine shows that Matsui should leave Yanks; 60% and stay in Yanks; 20%.
He has to show up as much as possible for increase-forecasted broadcast in Japan and shall consider Japanese fans' voices.
