Yes. It really happened. Chien-Ming Wang threw the best eephus pitch of his life 14 seconds in. Even The Great Bambino would have been caught looking on that one.
Oh, and don’t ask me what the announcers are saying. I haven’t the slightest clue.
There is also some news to go along with this video. Ken Davidoff is reporting the Yankees are likely to non-tender Wang. Wang just started to throw on flat ground in his recovery from shoulder surgery, making him doubtful to be ready for opening day in 2010.
Note: Wang has completely fallen off the Yankees’ radar ever since he injured his leg in Houston back in ‘08.
I feel really bad for the guy. He’s probably Taiwan’s biggest star in baseball, and he wasn’t even somewhat valuable to the Yankees in their championship season.
Nobody has mentioned the idea of Wang as the fourth starter in 2010.
