Dustin Pedroia: ‘Our infield (stinks)’

pedroia

I hate Jonathan Papelbon the most, Kevin Youkilis second-most, but next on the Red Sox would have to be Dustin Pedroia. (List does not include Curt Schilling who sits atop this list by a long shot.)

All I hear from Red Sox fans is, “Pedroia was born to play second base for the Red Sox.” First off, that’s a load of crap. Let me guess, Nomar Garciaparra was born to play shortstop for them too? That’s what I thought.

This isn’t some random outburst on one of Boston’s players. He actually said something. And of course, it was stupid. He called out his own team’s grounds crew after misplaying a grounder against the Angels in the ALDS.

"It took a bad hop," Pedroia said. "Our infield (stinks). It's the worst in the game."

Pedroia was obviously peeved, but did not back away from his statement.

"I'm not lying about that. That is true. I think about those things. That stuff upsets me," Pedroia said. "My job is to take 1,000 groundballs a day. Other guys' job is to get the field perfect so we can play baseball."

For starters, would Derek Jeter ever come close to saying something like this? Making excuses on a groundball after losing in the ALDS is not what a leader should be doing. I can’t believe this guy stole the MVP Award last year.

I file this under a typical Red Sox comment. Please, someone tell me different.

What Dustin Pedroia was born to be is a Boston a-hole. That's the reason that he along with his cohort Youkilis get hit so much. The two of them are constantly talking trash from the bench. Both of them are cl***less acts.
In all fairness, their infield does stink. Thats why Renteria couldn't play good SS there. It is well know that the infield at Fenway is brutal.

Possibly. But not all shortstops have problems there. And as I said, Derek Jeter would never put any blame on his grounds crew.

If Pedroia bashed another field's grounds crew, I'd hate him a little less. But this is his home turf. You are supposed to know the tricky hops, which gives the visitors a disadvantage.

I'm guessing Pedroia is going to be with Boston for a long time. He should probably get to know his home field.
Pedroia didn't even deserve the MVP last year. It should have gone to Youkilis anyway. Besides, I dont see Youkilis complaining about bad hops, and he plays third and first. Pedroia is just a little baby who wouldn't do **** if he didn't have the monster there for him to hit pop ups over.
Most short stops do have problems there though. Thats why the Red Sox have always had problems at shortstop. Lugo sucked there, Renteria the obvious one, and Nick Green had like a thousand errors there.

Bwahaahaha!! You better be ten years old kid. You sure as hell don't know anything about baseball.

I'm not allowed to list in order the players I hate on the Red Sox? You are right. I guess since I did, I don't know anything about baseball...
I wish I could argue with you on the whole Pedroia blaming grounds crew, but I can't. I ripped him last night on my show too. I love the guy as a scrappy, talented ballplayer but that was BS. A lot of it is just raw emotion after being swept out of the ALDS. You say things you shouldn't sometimes, but you're right, Jeter would never go there. And that's coming from a huge Red Sox fan as you know Lenny Boy!
