Yankees-Blue Jays series preview

The Yankees (85-48) are headed to Toronto for a four-game series with the Blue Jays (59-73). The Jays are well out of first place (25.5 games), and are five games away from being eliminated from the postseason. Remember when the Blue Jays were in first place May 23? I didn’t think so.

Head-to-Head:
The Yanks are 9-3 against the Jays this season, and still have two more games to be played in the Bronx after this series.

Pitching Matchups:

Date: Yankees starters Blue Jays starters
Thur., 7:07 p.m. Chad Gaudin (1-0, 3.21) Ricky Romero (11-6, 3.95)
Fri., 7:07 p.m. J. Chamberlain (8-4, 4.38) Roy Halladay (13-8, 3.13)
Sat., 1:07 p.m. Andy Pettitte (12-6, 4.03) Brett Cecil (6-3, 5.42)
Sun., 1:07 p.m. Sergio Mitre (3-1, 5.65) Brian Tallet (5-9, 5.17)

My Outlook:
The Yankees are rolling right now, and it’s hard to predict them losing. However, Friday’s matchup looks like trouble at first glance. Another sweep of an AL East team would make it 10 straight victories. Oh, wouldn’t that be nice.
